Effective Culturally Responsive Family Engagement Doesn’t Just Happen: Make a Plan
Years of research points to effective family engagement as a key component in children’s success in schools. As our school communities become more diverse, schools must shift from family engagement “as we’ve always done it" to a more culturally responsive, inclusive practice that acknowledges the strengths in our communities.

Participants will explore structural barriers that keep families out of the spaces they deserve and need to be in to support their children; examine the role race and culture has on engagement; and apply a planning tool for effective culturally responsive family engagement.
